We all know the power of the mind when it comes to achieving goals and being the best version of yourself. But how do you start out on the road to changing your mindset? First of all – give yourself permission to be AWESOME! Sounds simple, right?

Believe You’re Capable Of Great Things

Start from that place and everything else will follow. How to make cognitive and behavioural changes and what strategies and beliefs we use to adhere to new ways of eating and exercise patterns, are just as crucial and if not more crucial, than just looking at nutrition and exercise alone.

What Is Mindset?

Mindset frames the running account that’s taking place in people’s heads. Your mindset guides the whole interpretation process. Read and learn about the different types of mindsets, and ask yourself which one you often default to, especially when it comes to your health, fitness and weight loss journey, following Exercise Plans, cooking healthy meals or dealing with setbacks. It’s not so much about what happens on any given day, it’s how you respond to it that really matters.

Fixed Vs. Growth Mindset

Fixed Mindset

The fixed mindset creates an internal monologue that is focused on judging. When something happens, you might say something like this to yourself: “This means I’m a loser”, “This means I’m a better person than they are”, “This means I’m a bad husband”, “This means my partner is selfish”.

Growth Mindset

People with a growth mindset are also constantly monitoring what’s going on, but their internal monologue is not about judging themselves and others. Certainly they’re sensitive to positive and negative information, but they’re attuned to its implications for learning and constructive action. They are more likely to say something like: “What can I learn from this?”, “How can I improve?”, “How can I help my partner do this better?”.

Learning about and understanding our own beliefs and mindset is the first step towards shifting our thoughts and beliefs and therefore changing outcomes. The Power Of Your Potential

The mindset of someone who really takes things to the next level is that they don’t see any reason they can’t have that success and start DOING what it takes to get there. They pick up the phone and get to work. They don’t believe talent is what it’s all about. It’s effort, persistence, grit, and so on. In short, don’t limit your potential for awesomeness like so many others do.

We can either wake up each morning, already believing that everything is too hard. Or we can wake up and see each day as an opportunity to make positive changes and to learn from any experiences where we feel we could have done things a little differently. 

Rather than asking yourself, “What if I don’t succeed?” Instead ask, “What if I never START?”.
