Great Greek Yoghurt Snack Ideas

We all know that having protein after working out helps build lean muscle mass – which is super important to keep your metabolism firing and can help reduce body fat. But did you know that not all proteins are created equal?

The proteins found in dairy – whey and casein – are the most common proteins used in nutrition supplements designed for muscle gains as they provide all the essential amino acids needed to build and maintain muscle mass.

The foods and drinks you consume after exercise can affect how quickly your body recovers and how well you perform at your next training session. Just 20g of high quality protein after resistance exercise will kick start lean muscle growth and repair.

So after your next workout, take plain Greek yogurt and add your own DIY combinations for some fun and flavour – here are some suggestions.

Yogurt with Red Grapes, LSA and Pepitas

Serves 1

Yogurt with Red Grapes LSA and PepitasIngredients

200g Greek-style natural yogurt
2 teaspoons LSA (linseed, sunflower, almond) mix
1/3 cup red grapes, halved
1 tablespoon pepita seeds

METHOD
Place yogurt in a serving bowl or container, sprinkle with LSA and top with grapes and pepitas.

Minty Melon with Ginger Yogurt

Serves 2

Minty Melon with Ginger YogurtIngredients

8cm piece fresh ginger
200g Australian natural yogurt
120g chopped rockmelon
120g chopped honeydew melon
2 teaspoons shredded mint or small mint leaves

Method

1. Finely grate the ginger onto a plate. Pour the grated ginger and any juices into a fine sieve and pressover a bowl to collect all the juice. Stir the juice into the yogurt.
2. Divide the melon between 2 serving bowls, top with ginger yogurt and sprinkle with mint.
