My Day on a Plate: Zehan

My-day-on-a-plate_v2

Welcome to our new blog series, ‘My Day on a Plate’. Each month a 12WBT staffer will share their day on a plate…starting with salsa queen and yoga enthusiast Zehan!

Zehan

Name: Zehan

12WBT Role: Brand Marketing Manager

7am: I don’t usually eat first thing in the morning so I start my day with a large glass of warm water with lemon juice in it, followed by 350ml of green juice about 45 mins later (kale, celery or spinach, banana, chia seeds, blueberries and coconut water or filtered water). I feel energised and all that veggie juice feeds my skin! This usually ties me over until lunch time.

10am: I’m a little bit of a caffeine addict – so a cup of soy latte in the mid-morning is my treat for the day. Today I went to Paramount Coffee Project on Commonwealth Street and they had visiting baristas from LA in town (making the most divine almond milk latte) – definitely a go-to cafe if you’re ever in the Surry Hills area in Sydney!

1230-1pm: Lunch is always a big affair for me and I ensure I eat a bigger meal at lunch time compared to dinner time. I pack any leftovers from the night before (today it was chicken noodle soup) or throw a salad together – spinach, steamed broccoli, carrots, asparagus, haloumi, quinoa and some roast chicken or grilled salmon. It’s filling and healthy.

4pm: It’s not advisable to eat an hour before you exercise, so I grab a bunch of almonds or a piece of fruit to give me energy before my evening exercise. Today my yoga class is at 6pm for 1.5 hours so I make sure I’m well hydrated and my tummy isn’t rumbling.

8pm: Dinner is always light – a simple leafy salad with steamed/grilled fish or chicken, or a soup or stew (now that the weather is getting colder I like to have something warm in my belly). Desserts are a rarity – if I do have a leaning towards something sweet, I will make my chia seed and blueberry pudding (with almond milk) – usually one I’ve already prepared in the morning.

Next month we’ll be back to see another 12WBTer’s ‘Day on a Plate’!
