Can’t Be Bothered Working Out? Read This First

Can’t be bothered to workout? Here are 10 reasons and benefits to overcome that unmotivated feeling and get out there and JFDI!

1. Exercise is a Great Stress Reliever

You’re feeling stressed after a long day and the thought of training is the furthest thing from your mind. Did you know that exercise is one of the most potent forms of stress relief you can offer your body? With this in mind, doesn’t it make sense to embrace this and give yourself a boost of energy and vitality? You KNOW that you will feel sensational for doing it!

2. Beat Boredom and Overeating

Feeling bored leads to lethargy, lethargy often leads to overeating/mindless eating, this leads to weight gain and you got it… lethargy! If you’re in a rut with your routine, change it, as any exercise is fantastic and there is nothing set in stone for how you approach your sessions.

3. Grab a Friend

Camaraderie and support makes you keep that appointment! If you feel that you may skip a workout, how about teaming up with someone as a buddy to push each other along – and you know how bad you will feel if you keep cancelling on them! Get into the Member Zone and find someone in your area to meet up with.

4. Hire a Trainer or Join a Group

Hiring a personal trainer may seem like a luxury to some, but putting that investment into perspective can be of real value. How much money could you save overall by not going out so much when you commit to training? How much money could you save on food by cleaning up your nutrition? And how much more productive will you be in general as you feel more vibrant, energetic and positive? That’s a win, win, win!

5. Mix It Up!

Plateaus and a general feeling of ‘Meh’ about training often rears its head after a few weeks/months of training. If you’re not excited about your workouts and have started making excuses, change up your sessions! Similarly, with considerations around an injury, can you change your exercise to continue working out safely instead of omitting exercise entirely?

6. Pump Some Tunes

Dance like there’s nobody watching for five minutes while you gather a new playlist and get jiggy with some tunes for a pep up!

7. Get Your Gym Gear On

It’s true that just the act of putting on your gym gear and role playing your attempt to get to your session lifts the mood to actually go and do it. If you feel flat and are not in the mood, slip into your favourite workout gear and watch how much your attitude changes.

8. Reflect on Your Health

Not getting to your scheduled sessions can impact on your health quite significantly. Take stock of why you’re exercising in the first place, and how important it is on many levels to commit to some form of exercise for longevity, vitality and general wellbeing.

9. Be Grateful!

How lucky are we to be able to choose whether or not we train. Remember what a gift this is, and be grateful for being physically able to exercise. Express your gratitude by showing up for a session and in turn, putting you in a good position for acquiring more awesome skills.

10. Take a Four-Legged Friend

If you have a furry friend, I’m sure they would benefit just as much as you would from some exercise. Please don’t rob your buddy of being super healthy, and get moving with your pal.

And remember, when in doubt – JFDI!
