Feeling run down or stuck in a mid-week slump? Here are three quick and quirky ways to boost your mood asap!

1. Change the scent of your environment

It’s an odd thing to suggest but after testing this out, it’s a quick trick that can be done in the blink of an eye – have a smell of mint or citrus to get a boost in your mood.

Peppermint and lemon are great examples of this. Peppermint contains menthol which is said to trigger the hippocampus area of your brain. This trigger can help you become more alert and allow you to pay attention.

Aromatherapists have been using peppermint as a means of uplifting and invigorating. Not only is it great to inhale, it’s also nourishing to digest, especially in tea.

2. Treat yo’self

Do something small to treat yourself like getting a manicure, buying that dress in your shopping cart, or getting that sale item.

There are so many quick ways to treat yourself, without blowing out the budget or having post-regret.

Not only does it boost your mood at that moment of purchase, but if it’s an accessory or piece of clothing, you get to wear it and feel good too. Find your little gem and spoil yourself. It can be the perfect pick-me-up.

3. Perform a random act of kindness

Whether it’s blessing someone when they sneeze or volunteering for a food van run, performing an act of kindness will not only make you feel like a better person, but you will be doing a good deed for someone else – now that’s something special!

You don’t have to be a superhero to make the world of a difference to someone else’s life but any small act of kindness.
