Community // Sarah Link // 6 August 2014

There’s a totally dedicated team working behind the scenes at 12WBT – and it’s about time you got to know them! Each month we feature one of our superstar staffers to see what makes them tick. Last month, we featured fitness guru Dan. Today, say hello to Greta!

Name: Greta Truscott

Position: 12WBT Running Expert

Our Resident Running Supermum

Greta Truscott has been our resident running expert since 2012 and, together with fellow running champ Ben St Lawrence, heads up our Running Programs. Her qualifications speak for themselves! She’s an occupational therapist, masseusespecialising in remedial and sports massage, qualified personal trainer AND has had her own running and triathlon coaching and sports massage business since 2004. Plus she’s got a husband and toddler … Talk about superwoman!

A typical day at 12WBT:Logging on at home or at one of my favourite cafes for emails or posting to members, developing all the running programs we have, assisting any running-related product and marketing work and being a part of running photoshoots and videos with Michelle and fellow running specialist Ben St Lawrence.”

Favourite thing about working for 12WBT:Reaching out to and helping so many more runners in such a timely way than I can in my one-on-one or even group-running coaching business. I love the team and all the amazing aspects of 12WBT, which strike a true cord with me.”

What Greta’s most proud of:My son Jaden who’s just turned two, being there for my family, friends, clients, work colleagues, 12WBT members – and inspiring healthy living, rejuvenation and fun.”

How she prioritises health and fitness: “Now that I have a son, a husband and a job, I focus on quality training once a day for at least an hour at any time of the day. I love to run, do yoga, swimming in the pool or ocean, and some mountain biking. I use my exercise to be healthy and strong, to open myself up to opportunity and explore all the broad aspects of life.”

How she likes to sweat it out: You guessed it! “With intense running sessions – intervals, hills, tempos, fartleks, long runs and races.”

Greta’s perfect day:Watching the sunrise, seeing my son smile and play, seeing all my friends and family, having a super hard but fun running session with my training buddies, helping the world be a healthier and happier place through my work, eating my favourite healthy foods and watching the sunset.”

Favourite weekend activities: “Running, catching up with friends for a barbecue, escaping into an intelligent, mostly positive book or film, playing the guitar terribly, and visiting new places, like a park, beach, cafe, art gallery or concert.”

Favourite comfort food:A hot, nutritious, yummy stew loaded with vegies, meat and topped with cheese”.

One thing we didn’t know about Greta: “I love nature so much that it breaks my heart to see any harm being done to animals and the environment. I always wish I could live more conservatively and leave a minimal footprint. I recycle, support Greenpeace, avoid wasting food and ride my bike (with toddler on board) instead of driving as much as I can.”

Her mantra: “Do the best you can, with what you have, right where you are.”

12WBT has six running plans, from Learn to Run right through to Marathon. You’ll receive expert support from our running specialists like Greta, as well as Exercise Plans tailored specifically to running, weekly Meal Plans and access to more than 900 delicious recipes.
